New Car Prep: Honda City (Sparkling Brown Metallic)

by Kenneth Tang

A new Honda City that has holograms all over is in for a quick restoration.

The car was very glossy upon arrival and had the usual dirt and grime.

Then I saw some polish/wax residues between the gaps.

Ah-hah! More polish residues, the paint has been worked on before.

I started by cleaning the rims, tires and wheel wells with Osren Degreaser FX. The body is washed with Osren Bubble and Wax shampoo.

After drying car, I inspected the paint with an Eagletac T10L LED torch. There were holograms all over the paint.

So I did a test spot with Dodo Juice Supernatural Micro Prime / Lake Country Polishing Pad / Flex 3401 DA

The results were great, however, these pre-wax cleaners tend to have glazing oils that will fill in minor swirls and scratches. To make sure that the holograms were not filled and permanently removed, I degreased the test spot three times with Osren Degreaser FX.

Below is the result after triple degreasing. Satisfied with how it looked, I proceeded to polish the whole car with this combo.

For protection, Duragloss #105 Sealant is applied and left on for an hour to cure.

Since the paint was prepped with Dodo Juice Supernatural Micro Prime, it is only fitting to finish it off with Dodo Juice Supernatural Wax.

This was left overnight to dry.

The interior is given a thorough vacuum and dusting with a soft brush. Plastics wiped down with Sonax Interior Cleaner.

Due to the high Carnauba content of Supernatural Wax, there was some streaking on the paint. This is reduced with some quick detailer.

    Hi Kenneth,

Welcome back after such a long hiatus and Happy New Year to you!

By the way, why did you choose degreaser for the inspection over isopropyl alcohol?

And another silly question, wouldn’t your neighbour complain? I mean I own a 977c and its so bloody loud.
